OMG That Song Book Tag

Updated: Nov 19, 2021

What time is it? Yepp, you guessed it, time for another round of 'Tag Time'. This tag I found on Bookishly Rebecca (honestly though, thank you for the awesome tags). I am unsure though who was the original creator, so credit goes to whoever you are.

For this tag, there are a bunch of given prompts that you have to answer. That's it, that's all. Works for me as I am just excited to talk about music for a change. This was honestly such a fun tag to do, as I go to show you some of my musical tastes.

Here we go!

MY JAM: A SONG YOU HAVE TO LISTEN TO NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU'VE HEARD IT

+

A BOOK THAT YOU'LL NEVER GET SICK OF

In the spirit of trying to diversify my answers, I am going to give an example other than BTS. I am instead going to say Soldi by Mahmood. Mahmood performed this song for the 2019 Eurovision as the representative for Italy. No matter how many times I listen to this, I will always clap on command.

In terms of books, I don't really re-read books often because my TBR is ridiculously long. I will instead give you a book that I can't stop thinking about since I read it - Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson.

THROWBACK: A SONG THAT REMINDS YOU OF THE CRINGIEST TIME IN YOUR LIFE

+

A BOOK YOU READ THAT YOU WOULDN'T LIKE NOW

I listened to this Hilary Duff album religiously when I was in elementary school, and elementary school is a cringey era for everyone. I distinctly remember carrying around my CD player listening to this album when I would go out. I probably haven't listen to this song since then but I still remember the lyrics...

As for a book, I would like to say the entirety of the Twilight series, but I haven't read it in like a decade, so who knows whether or not I would still like it. For now, I will say The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong. Younger me absolutely loved this book, but upon re-reading it recently, I had more than a few issues with it.

REPLAY: A RECENT SONG YOU HAVE ON REPEAR

+

A RECENT FAVOURITE BOOK

At the top of my on repeat spotify playlist we pretty have just a bunch of Japanese anime songs. One of them is Iro Kousui by Yoh Kamiyama which is from the anime Horimiya. I have yet to actually watch Horimiya yet, but I know that I am going to get hyped for every episode because of the opening song.

A recent favourite book would also be a manga as I am currently reading My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi as I am also watched the anime at the same time.

GETS ME: A SONG THAT IS LITERALLY ME

+

A BOOK THAT IS ME IN BOOK FORM

I thought that it would be hard to find a song that I can relate to, but I found one rather quickly (and it's BTS too so I'm on brand). An upbeat song to fit for an upbeat person, but with lyrics fitting for a person with anxiety.

Moving onto the book but staying on the anxiety train, Sarah's Scribbles by Sarah Anderson just gets me on a personal level.

WUT: A WEIRD SONG THAT YOU LIKED ANYWAYS

+

A UNIQUE BOOK THAT STRUCK OUT TO YOU FOR SOME REASON

Hmm, it's hard to pick a weird song cause it mostly comes down to music taste. The closest thing I can find that isn't completely out there, would be Spirit in the Sky by KEiiNO. I discovered this song as they represented Norway in the 2019 Eurovision Contest with this song. I think people initially find this song a bit strange as amongst the English lyrics, there is one guy who sings in Norwegian.

A unique book that stuck out to me I think would be The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones. I haven't seen many people talking about this book, but I thought it was a fun take on the living dead.

LET'S GO: PICK YOUR BEST PUMP UP SONG

+

A BOOK THAT INSPIRES YOU

No surprises here, my top pump up songs are by BTS (because of course they are). Seeing as I have to pick only one, I'm going to go with UGH! You can't not get hyped up when you listen to this song.

I am not really someone that reads books that I would consider inspiring. The closest thing that comes to my mind would be The House in the Cerulean Sea by T.J. Klune because I found that there are a lot of discussions that can be had from this book.

CHILL: YOUR BEST CHILL OR RELAXING SONG

+

A BOOK YOU'D CURL UP WITH ON A RAINY DAY

If you want a song you can listen to when looking out the window on a rainy day or when falling asleep, look no further than this. Koya's Sleep Music was created for BT21, which is the line of characters created by BTS (yes I'm still talking about them). There is something so serene about this song.

I am going to cheat a little and recommend a webcomic and not a book. Small Blessings is a webcomic by Whitherling that follows Alasdair, a tiny house spirit, on his nightly adventures. Alasdair is utterly adorable and if you want to be warmed from the inside, try this out.

ADDICTING: A GUILTY PLEASURE SONG

+

A LIGHT, TRASHY READ YOU CAN'T HELP LOVING

I do have a song that is a bit of a guilty pleasure, and that is Chillin' Like a Villain from Descendants 2. Have I see the movie, no, but will I listen to it every time it comes up on shuffle, yes. I also really just like the dance too.

I don't think I have read anything that could be considered 'trashy'. To change things up a bit, I am going to pick something that is just not for everyone, and that would be pretty much anything by Sarah J. Maas. I know a lot of people love to hate her work, but I love me some SJM.

NOSTALGIA: A THROWBACK SONG YOU LOOK BACK ON FONDLY

+

A BOOK YOU READ AND LOVED WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG

Oh yeah, this song will never get old. I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At The Disco is just a masterpiece of a song. I have a not so fond memory of this song though as I got in trouble in elementary for listening to this song because I went to a Catholic school...

I was one of those people who loved Twilight when I was younger, enough so that I re-read the entire series 5 times...yeah...I will give the entire series a re-read though to see if it still stands up.
