July 2021 in Review

Updated: Sep 4, 2021

So, I thought that I didn't really read that many books...until I realized that I had my Goodreads shelf organized wrong... It is safe to say then that I am slowly coming out of my reading slump. I sat that even though I still felt like I had a bit of a slow month, and that is because in the odd mood to watch some movies.

I do like watching movies but I have a hard time sitting down and focusing on only the movie. Sometimes multitasking does not work in your favour. I have also been playing Horizon Zero Dawn (finally), and that is taking up the majority of my time because it is an open-world game with lots to do.

That being said, I would consider this a successful reading month by the fact alone that I read, or technically listened to, two massive books. I also got through some ARCs which is always a good thing.

On to the statistics!

I read a total of 10 books, 1 novella, 1 anthology, and 4 volumes of manga this month for a total of 16 books and roughly 5,708 pages.

I ended up DNFing 4 books this month all more or less because I either was just not getting into the book or the setup was so bad that I couldn't get myself to keep reading. Here are all the books, and one manga, that I ended up putting down.

  • Blood Blockade Battlefront (Kekkai Sensen) Vol.1 by Yasuhiro Nightow

  • Widow's Welcome by D.K. Fields

  • The Nesting by C.J. Cooke

  • Near the Bone by Christina Henry
