Bookish Scenario | Book Tag

As you can tell by the title, I am doing the 'bookish scenario' book tag this week for 'Tag Time.' This is a bit different from most of the tags I have done already since these have to do with scenarios, and aren't just your generic questions.

I did end up having the change the font of the subtitles since they are so long, so apologies if they are a bit hard to read.

I found this on Zezee with Books, but it was created by LindsayHeartsBooks, so all credit goes to them.

Here we go!

YOU HAVE TO GET RID OF ALL YOUR BOOKS AND YOU CAN ONLY KEEP ONE FROM EACH OF THESE GENRES —CONTEMPORARY, FANTASY, NONFICTION, AND ONE OTHER GENRE OF YOUR CHOOSING. WHAT BOOKS DO YOU KEEP?

Contemporary

Yeah...I don't read contemporary. I am going to cheat a bit though and go with a Webtoon that has contemporary listed as a subgenre - Heartstopper. I am always here for Nick and Charlie, and it is one of the few contemporaries I enjoyed.

Fantasy

I have quite a few fantasy books I loved, so it is a bit hard to narrow it down. But, I am going to cheat again with this one by going with a manga series that I haven't talked about much - Fullmetal Alchemist. This is a classic fantasy series that hits the spot every time.

Nonfiction

When it comes to nonfiction, it would, without a doubt, be I'll Be Gone in the Dark. Nonfiction books don't always stick with you after a while, but this was so riveting that it had a lasting impact on me.

Other - Manga

I am admittedly cheating on this last one by picking a manga series instead of a single book...but what is the point of picking one single volume out of the series?

YOU’RE AT THE BOOKSTORE AND YOU HEAR A TEENAGER TELLING THEIR MOM THEY DON’T LIKE TO READ, BUT THEIR MOM INSISTS THEY PICK SOMETHING. YOU WALK OVER AND RECOMMEND A BOOK YOU THINK IS GREAT FOR PEOPLE WHO AREN’T BIG ON READING – WHAT BOOK IS IT?

Oof, this is always a hard question because you can't recommend a random book to a random stranger with no context. I would probably go with something by Taylor Jenkins Read though. Her books are something I don't usually gravitate towards, but they felt so real, and maybe that person can connect to it because of that.

YOU’RE NOT FEELING YOURSELF AND NEED A PICK ME UP. WHICH BOOK DO YOU READ TO PUT YOURSELF IN A GREAT MOOD?

Always something of a graphic medium, that is where it is at for me. It just works so much better when I can actually see the characters. I usually end up re-reading the same things, but I have mentioned them so many times now that I am going to go with a Webtoon I discovered recently.

I probably made a bit of a mistake starting Be My Villain, because it is a new Webtoon and I now have to wait for it to update, but it is so good that I will just reread it over and over again.

YOU GO BACK IN TIME FOR A DAY TO YOUR TEENAGE YEARS. WHAT BOOK WOULD YOU MOST LIKELY HAVE CAUGHT YOURSELF READING?

I adored the Night World series to the point where I don't even know how many times I read it. I even recently reread a few of my favourites from the series, and they are still great.

YOUR FRIEND SURPRISES YOU WITH A FOUR-DAY TRIP AND YOU HAVE 1 HOUR TO PACK. WHICH BOOK DO YOU BRING TO READ ON THE WAY?

While this may be a bit big to read on the way, it is the perfect book to bring with you on a trip if you need to kill some time. At almost 850 pages, you've got more than enough to read, which means this is the only book you have to bring with you too.

YOUR HOUSE HAS BEEN ROBBED! DON’T WORRY – EVERYONE IS SAFE, BUT YOUR BOOKSHELF HAS BEEN RAIDED. WHAT’S THE BOOK YOU REALLY HOPE IS SAFE?

I don't have many books on my actual bookshelf, and I am not overly attached to them either. Honestly speaking, I wouldn't go with a book book, I would go with my textbooks. I spent a lot of money on a lot of books during my time at University, and it would suck if anything happened to them.

YOUR FRIEND BORROWS A BOOK AND RETURNS IT IN AWFUL CONDITION. DO YOU A) JUST PRETEND YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED B) ASK THEM TO REPURCHASE IT OR C) SECRETLY DO THE SAME TO SOMETHING OF THEIRS?

Probably A. I wouldn't say anything about it but I would never lend them something again.
