"My name is Amelia Gray. They call me The Graveyard Queen. I've been commissioned to restore an old cemetery in Asher Falls, South Carolina, but I'm coming to think I have another purpose here.
Why is there a cemetery at the bottom of Bell Lake? Why am I drawn time and again to a hidden grave I've discovered in the woods? Something is eating away at the soul of this town, this withering kingdom, and it will only be restored if I can uncover the truth."
The Kingdom is the second novel in Graveyard Queen, a paranormal mystery series by Amanda Stevens.
I ended up picking this book up right after reading and enjoying the first book in the series and...it wasn't as good. This book is equivalent to a filler episode in an anime as it takes a turn away from the events of the first book. While it would make sense for Amelia to travel around to restore different graveyards, I feel like this book should have happened later on in the series once the plot of the first book was wrapped up.
I also feel like this book moved a bit away from the mystery and more into the dramatic side of things which wasn't exactly what I was looking for when reading this. Still, though, this was a quick enjoyable read.
