"What would you change if you could go back in time?
In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time."
Before the Coffee Gets Cold is a novel by Toshikazu Kawaguchi that blends fiction with fantasy.
Despite my 3-star rating, I do think this was an interesting take on time travel. I liked the fact that it was set in a coffee shop and that in order for someone to travel in the past, they have to follow a long list of rules.
There were some actions on the part of the characters that I thought were kind of ridiculous even though I get that it was them acting out of desperation.
I do think that the way the author chose to convey the concept of time travel in this was better than The Midnight Library, in my opinion.
